On March 21st, 2006 Twitter was founded in the sunny yet windy city of San Francisco. In 2006, I was too busy finding myself through the means of tall white t-shirts, "snap music" and pro-style gel to realize what was happening outside of my customized myspace. In 2009 I created my first twitter account and at that time "Black Twitter" did not have a title nor did it really even exist. As I grew in followers and as an upstanding citizen I began to notice the shift on my timeline. "Black Twitter" is where ratchet meets refined. It contains the working class, unemployed, scholars and creatives of the "black world". It can be seen as a secret society that isn't so secret, unless you're not black of course. Black Twitter can join in on anything from police brutality to their obnoxious disdain for the Kardashian family. All in all Black Twitter embodies what the lunch table in a 90s teen movie would look like if it contained just black students from all walks of life. Your socioeconomic status nor your educational background matter on Black Twitter. As long as you have access to the internet and a twitter account you can use 140 characters to express your profound or not so profound thoughts.
Black Twitter Logic is a website that will touch on the concept of personal branding on twitter. Twitter can assist you with starting your own business or assist you with potentially being arrested for admitting incriminating information on your timeline. This journey will not always be politically correct but it will always be genuine. Being that this is a scholarly website , it will delve deeply into the academic outlook on how to brand yourself on social media. Hopefully, if you haven't heard of black twitter you will enjoy this website and give some feedback of your own on the topics that will be discussed.
Be ready for some very raw and uncut information, tweets and lots of laughter. I promise that this will not be exhausting.
